In many areas of Brazil, children cannot exercise their right to an education – for various reasons. Children in Switzerland and in Liechtenstein did something to change that by collecting money during the 2021 Star Weeks.

Emergency relief

In the Middle East and Afghanistan, a humanitarian disaster was looming in the winter of 2021/2022. Weakened by conflict and crisis, hundreds of thousands of children had nothing to protect themselves from the freezing cold. Each day was a struggle for survival. UNICEF was on the ground providing urgently needed aid.

Reconstruction after the earthquakes in Nepal

Emergency relief

Two major earthquakes struck Nepal in the spring of 2015. They caused massive damage to infrastructure, cost 9,000 lives and left 600,000 families homeless.

Combating malnutrition in Kyrgyzstan

With financial support from UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the government and UNICEF Kyrgyzstan have established the key foundations for a national program to combat malnutrition in infants.

Aid for child refugees in Rwanda

Almost 30,000 Burundian children live in the Mahama refugee camp in Rwanda. UNICEF ensures that these girls and boys can have a childhood and a future in spite of the difficult conditions.
