The effects of climate change are impacting the lives of hundreds of thousands of children in Bangladesh. Devastating floods and landslides happen every year. Rising sea levels are causing saltwater intrusion to the country’s groundwater. UNICEF is providing families with safe drinking water and is working to ensure a sustainable water supply that withstands the effects of climate change.

Madagascar is one of the countries in the world most affected by climate change. The island is currently experiencing its worst drought in forty years. The south is particularly affected, with many families starving and barely surviving. Half a million children under the age of five are at risk of acute malnutrition and in urgent need of medical help.

In recent years, Ghana has strengthened many measures crucial for the survival and development of newborns. Unfortunately, however, maternal and newborn mortality rates remain high. For this reason, UNICEF aims to improve the quality of health services for women and children in health facilities in disadvantaged regions.
