The UNICEF International Council offers a global stage to engage and collaborate with leading actors in the child rights sector.

Working hand in hand, Council members leverage their funding, influence and expertise to achieve sustainable change for children. The Council’s distinct work and engagement opportunities are driven by the diverse backgrounds, cultures and expertise that members bring to the table.

Membership is open to individuals who have made significant investments in UNICEF programs for children. The Council is currently chaired by Maria Ahlström-Bondestam.

Established in 2017 as a unique group of philanthropic investors, Council members aim to:

  • Make UNICEF more impactful by leveraging Council members’ funding, perspectives and networks;
  • Attract untapped resources for UNICEF by advocating for the organization and showcasing its work;
  • Help UNICEF put the world’s focus on children by empowering the next generation and amplifying their voices.
