The psychological distress among children and adolescents has increased in recent years. Against this backdrop, research has increasingly focused on understanding which factors strengthen or compromise the mental health of young people. The publication “Protective and Risk Factors for the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents” was commissioned by UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). It summarises the most important findings from international studies and recent Swiss data and highlights the areas where significant research gaps remain.
