Your donation is received
UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories worldwide. A total of 32 National Committees for UNICEF, including UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein, are committed to raising funds and advancing the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This work is financed exclusively by contributions from companies, foundations, municipalities, cities, cantons, organizations, celebrities and the Federal government, as well as from private donations.
UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein at all times makes effective use of its donations. In 2025, UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein, among others:
- provided sustainable assistance to programs in 36 countries, including initiatives in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
- gave 34.7 million people in 73 countries access to drinking water.
The lion’s share of the funds goes to programs and projects worldwide that provide direct support to children and their families. These include health and education programs, protective measures and immediate assistance in emergency situations. Part of the funds is also used for national advocacy work to promote political change and sustainably strengthen the rights of children.
A further share of the funds is invested in fundraising measures, including the organization of fundraisers, communication with donors and the raising of money.
A small share is used to cover the expenses incurred to ensure the smooth operation of the organization’s activities as well as quality assurance.
This breakdown shows how UNICEF efficiently uses its resources to help children everywhere in the world in emergency situations while simultaneously pursuing long-term development goals.
UNICEF is making targeted and global impacts
Since 1990, global under-five mortality has fallen by half. Thanks to UNICEF-led vaccination, nutrition and education programs.
Almost one in two children worldwide receives vaccines provided by UNICEF. These save the lives of 4.4 million children under five annually.
Thanks to global initiatives with UNICEF, polio is nearly eradicated today – only 22 cases were reported in two countries in 2017.
In the 1950’s, approximately 50 percent of primary school–age children did not attend school. Today, this number has fallen by nine percent through initiatives like UNICEF’s global education program.
In 2023, almost 40 million children – half of them girls and over 17 million in emergency situations – had access to education.
Since 2008, UNICEF has provided protection from female genital mutilation to over 1.1 million girls under fourteen in African countries. The percentage of teens subjected to FGM fell from 47 to 33 percent.
68 million child marriages have been prevented over the past 25 years.
UNICEF maintains the world’s largest logistics center for humanitarian aid and can deliver relief supplies to anywhere in the world within 72 hours – even hard-to-reach areas.
